Several months ago, a young lady called Kate Bowyer was guest speaker at our dinner meeting.

She spoke so passionately about this wonderful project that our Club felt we had to become involved.

The aim of this page is to give you some information about the orphanage, the work of Kate and her

fellow workers, and share the stories and photos of the children at Kuleana. To know even more about

this worthy cause, click the logo above to go to the Kuleana Kids website.

We encourage you to assist Kuleana Kids in any way you can. Attend their fundraising events,

make a donation through the website, or just help spread the word. Club contact for this project is

Sue Honey, you can email Sue throught the Contact Us page.

The Kuleana Centre in Mwanza, Tanzania

Here is the latest blog from Kate in Tanzania:

Hello Australia.

I arrived in Tanzania safely and am settling back into Tanzanian life in Mwanza.
I am so happy to find the children healthy and happy, attending school and the  reintegration program going full steam
ahead. Family; whether immediate or extended,  is considered the ultimate goal for all children by Kuleana Kids and
supported internationally.
The centre's management are continuing to successfully reunite children with their families and the contribution of
$12,000 from Kuleana Kids annual fundraiser will assist this to continue. Furthermore, recent sponsorship commitments
from some generous Australians are allowing children to stay attending school once they have been successfully reunited
with family which truly could not happen without you... - A HUGE THANK YOU to those sponsors! Please continue to be
patient, as we formulate more information for you and others that are interested in supporting the children from
Kuleana Centre.
Plans to develop the nursery continue and updates include the securing of a new venue following some complications
with the previous building.
Currently Care Takers of the Environment management are undergoing development plans.  The Tanzanian Sports
Academy continues to grow into a strong support for vulnerable children, their families and their community and
continues to serve as a platform for advocacy and awareness raising for the rights of children, particular those whose
experiences include life on the streets.
The fire appeal has resulted in some significant support from UK charities and previous volunteers, along with some
support from Australia. Again - thank you to those who supported our cause.  The rebuilding of the offices and the
collections of resources continues and will be an ongoing process as priority needs like food and education must first
be met before any further progress can continue.
Thank you for all of your support, I am so proud to be an Australian representative in Tanzania and that I am able to
work with all of you in changing the lives of these very special, hardworking and inspiring children.
Don't forget to put the trivia night event in your diary, 12th November. Please book your tables as seats are
expected to go quickly.
Sincere thanks and warm wishes.
Kate Bowyer.
