Wagga Wagga Winter Warmth
The Rotary Club of Wagga Wagga has been involved in Wagga Wagga Winter Warmth since its inception in 1994. Member Mario Baron headed up a band of people to improve the life of local vulnerable people by coordinating a community drive to collect warm blankets, clothes, bedding, furniture and food to be distributed by the local charities such as St Vincent de Paul and Salvation Army.
For the past 17 years, our Club has 'manned the phones' to take donations from the Community. Personnel from the Army, RAAF and Navy coordinate the 'pick ups' with the charities and the Salvos cook a sausage sizzle for the volunteers. We are very grateful to Elders for allowing us to use their premises, and the local media for advertising this project. Also a big thanks for those great Waggarians and people in the surrounding district for their very generous donations!
Here are some photos from the 2011 Wagga Wagga Winter Warmth (tricky to say when answering the phone!)
